As you’ll know, their relationship is initially very strained, due to unreasonable harshness from Lady Violet, who feels a deep, but due to some reasons, failed love for her son Anthony [1]
Tensions rise a climax when he falls in love with opera singer Siena Rosso [2]
which is strongly opposed by his mother Violet, since opera singers were considered ”immoral women” [3] and in Regency Era [4] a marriage between an aristocrat and an opera singer could lead to social death within the boundaries

So she opposes strongly and forbids the relationship, but since it is true love,

This Post is dedicated to those Bridgerton Fans, who, for several reasons, still think, that the longtime relationship between Anthony Bridgeerton and Siena Rosso was just lust, partly based on the fact, that you see mainly sexual interactions between them, explained as ”escapism from duties” and on the wrong conclusion of Lady Violet, Anthony’s mother, that it was only a ”whim”
Now Lady Violet had her own reasons to draw that conclusion, out of a mix of fear of social death to the family [which was a real fear] [1], motherly concern and her then strained relationship with her son Anthony, although loving him deeply [2]
And although later she realized that that relationship was far more than a whim, she fiercely opposed it out of fear of social death, which led to high tensions between
her and her son Anthony, after his breakup with Siena, leaving him heartbroken [3]
But that’s one thing, since mothers will always worry.
But what about the relationship being based on ”just” lust and escapism from duties, like some Bridgerton fans claim.
THAT, DEAR BRIDGERTON FANS, IS NOT TRUE
LOVE, NOT JUST LUST
Before I get to my ”sexual interactions” point, firstly three powerful arguments to
point out, that the Anthony and Siena relationship was based on a true and deep love

Based on the series, it becomes clear, that the relationship between Anthony and Siena Rosso is not one of two or three weeks, but a lomg time relationship.
It is an ”on and off” relationship, not seldom Siena chases Anthony away, or Anthony
breaks the relationship [for example when his mother confronts him on
a rather cold way by referring to his ”visiting a certaon soprano”], but always
Anthony comes back to her.
Well, when a relationship is ”merely lust”, then it doesn’t last years and years,
despite fierce resistance from your Family [here Anthony’s mother Violet] and the deep social disapproval of the Ton [The British Regency Era aristocracy] [4]
Because ”lust” and ”sex” you can get anywhere, especially being a young Regency Era aristocrat.
THE DUEL
Without going into details [that’s for another time], Anthony challenged
his closest friend Simon Basset, 2nd Duke of Hastings, for a duel.
Reason:
The honour of Anthony’s sister Daphne. [5]
The Evening before the Duel, Anthony visits Siena and in an emotional
and intense plea he proposes to her to flee together, if he survives the duel:
I quote:
””If I live to see sunrise I’m free…..free of society….free of these rules
the very ones that keep us apart…we can go together away from all this Siena…..” [6]
When it was all about lust, he would not have done such a proposal,since facing a possible death [Duels were then a matter of life or death] your mind would not be at a person with whom you only share ”lust”, let
alone done such a proposal.

As I said before
His whole mind was with Siena:
Not a thought what it would mean to his mother, probably never
have seen her son again, when he fled the country
Not to himself, his doubtless immense feeling of guilt and grief, killing
his best friend.
But what it meant to be together with Siena…..
If it were only ”lust”, he would not have felt this so deeply.
AND NOW MY MOST POWERFUL ARGUMENT
Just before  the duel [which never was, but Anthony couldn’t know
that on that moment] [7], he made his younger brother and second in the duel [8]Benedict [who would follow him up after his possible death] [9], swear, that he would always take care for Siena.
When you think that you are in your last hour of life [a duel was then
a Matter of Life or Death] then you’ll think of that person, who means the most to  you.
Again:
He didn’t think of what his death would mean to his mother.
What it would mean to his brothers or sisters.
He thought of Siena.
If it were only lust, she wouldn’t have been one of his last thoughts.
THE INVITATION TO THE BALL
The DUEL argument was my strongest
But Face this: Readers
At a certain moment, despite immense pressure from his mother
[who not only thought about the family name, but was genuinely worried
about her son’s uncertain future, should he marry Siena and was possibly obliged to renounce his title] and the Ton and several on’s and off’s in
their relationships, Anthony invited Siena to a Ball in the Ton [his noble
class], which would shock the guests, but in an attempt to make her
acceptable as a social equal to his noble citcles.
How that ended the reader may google or search-that’s not the issue
here.
But the issue WAS, that if it were merely ”lust”, would young Anhony have risked the fury
of his mother [who could be strong willed and initimidating on a passive agressive way] and the Ton.
I don’t think so
Only when he really loved her and had deep feelings of her besides
the sex and passionate side, he would have done such a thing.
ESCAPISM?
Bridgerton Fans argue, that Anthony’s relationship with Siena was mostly based on ”escapism from duties”
They seem to have adopted the harsh stance from his mother Lady Violet, who seemed to forget, that Anthony, who had to be head of the family at 18 years [after his father’s sudden death] as a young man has the right on his own life and personal needs for which she later apologized [10]
So Anthony has the right to be young and so now and then ”escape” from duty
And YES
In the relationship with Siena was an element of Escapism.
With her he could forget for a moment, that he was  a ”Viscount”, not
the man, who had to arrange marriages for his sisters and manage the Estate.
CAN HE HAVE THAT MOMENT, PLEASE
It was only human and relaxing to seek those moments, especially because he
received less warmth and much harsh criticism from his mother Lady Violet, though she didn’t intentionally was cruel and merciless to him [11]
But apart from that:
Although having that element in their relationship, their bond was based in
the first place on deeply felt love! [12]
THE SEXUAL INTERACTIONS
Bridgerton Fans argue that there were only or mostly sexual interactions
between Anthony and Siena and that they weldom really were talking or doing
something else.
Well readers, there is a very logical explanation for this!
In Regency Era, opera singers were considered ”immoral women” and a
relationship with an opera singer was considered ”scandalous”
Now enjoying them a time was one thing.
Having a longtime relationship quite another thing. [13]
So Anthony and Siena could not be together like normal engaged people or people who were in love.
They couldn’t ”wine and dine”, be seen in public, going for a walk in Kew Gardens etc, etc [14]
So their relationship must be kept ”into the dark”, confined to homes and sleeping rooms.
Actually a deeply tragical situation for people in love, only meeting
cold apprehension [15] and rejection.
So yes, their making love together was one of the few outlets they had to express their love for each other.
LUST?
Of course there was ”lust” between them, for that is normal in a
loving relationship.
But it was part of the Love, not the fundament of their relationship

THE DURATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP

HALLO FOLKS
As my regular readers [Bridgerton Fans and others] know, I post at regular
times about the Life and Times of the successful Bridgerton Netflix TV series! [1]
And although working on another theme I just couldn’t resist this Post!
Because I simply ENJOYED the passionate love and sex scenes between
Anthony Bridgerton, young heir and head of the aristocratic Bridgerton Family and his operasinger Sienna Rosso! [2]
I just LOVED and ENJOYED the Youtube Music scenes,
based on the series, such as them having sex at the box match! [3]
And look for the other Passionate Scenes! [4]/HAHAHAHA
Now the Readers must know I have always felt a certain weakness for impossible loves and love story, as was the Anthony and Siena Rosso Affair.
Why?
Because in Regency Era, a possible marriage between an aristocrat and
an opera singer meant social death to the whole Family [and
Goodbye to the marriage chances of the Family’s daughters], as opera singers were considered immorfal women.
To enjoy with them was one thing.
Marry them completely something else.
And this explains the fierce resistance of Lady Violet, Anthony’s
mother, to his relationship with Siena.
Although loving her son dearly, she has no choice then sacrificing
his happiness for the reputation of the whole family

But I come to this in a later Post!
LOVE, NOT LUST
As I said, I planned to post on something else,
 but suddenly I felt the urge to address this firstly.
REASON:
In a number of comments and Fan discussions I saw the
allegation, that the relationship between Anthony and
Siena was not love, but lust.
AND THAT, DEAR READERS, IS NOT TRUE!
Because defenitely it WAS love….
I won’t go into details about it now, but here I give three
powerful arguments for my analysis.
Because although you see many sex scenes between
Anthony and Siena in Season i, Bridgerton and there relationship certainly
is one of lust and fierce sex, that is not the deep side of the Affair.
Of course, being young, reckless and beautiful, sex is an important
part.
But again
WHY LOVE?
THE DURATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP
Based on the series, it becomes clear, that the relationship between Anthony and Siena Rosso is not one of two or three weeks, but a lomg time relationship.
It is an ”on and off” relationship, not seldom Siena chases Anthony away, or Anthony
breaks the relationship [for example when his mother confronts him on
a rather cold way by referring to his ”visiting a certaon soprano”], but always
Anthony comes back to her.
Well, when a relationship is ”merely lust”, then it doesn’t last years and years,
despite fierce resistance from your Family [here Anthony’s mother Violet] and the deep social disapproval of the Ton [The British Regency Era aristocracy] [6]
Because ”lust” and ”sex” you can get anywhere, especially being a young Regency Era aristocrat.
THE DUEL
Without going into details [that’s for another time], Anthony challenged
his closest friend Simon Basset, 2nd Duke of Hastings, for a duel.
Reason:
The honour of Anthony’s sister Daphne. [7]
On the Eve of the duel [which never was, but Anthony couldn’t know
that on that moment] [8], he made his younger brother Benedict [who would follow him up after his possible death] [9], swear, that he would always take care for Siena.
WELL, THAT’S MY MOST POWERFUL ARGUMENT!
When you think that you are in your last hour of life [a duel was then
a Matter of Life or Death] then you’ll think of that person, who means the most for you.
He didn’t think of what his death would mean to his mother.
What it would mean to his brothers or sisters.
He thought of Siena.
If it were only lust, she wouldn’t have been one of his last thoughts.
Moreover, he speculated to her what would happened when he had killed
his best friend.
Then he had to flee the country, but he speculated to her, that he and she
would be free to live as they wanted. ”awsay from all the rules that keep
us apart”
So here again:
Not a thought what it would mean to his mother, probably never
have seen her son again.
Not to himself, his doubtless immense feeling of guilt and grief, killing
his best friend.
But what it meant to be together with Siena…..
If it were only ”lust”, he would not have felt this so deeply.
THE INVITATION TO THE BALL
The DUEL argument was my strongest
But Face this: Readers
At a certain moment, despite immense pressure from his mother
[who not only thought about the family name, but was genuinely worried
about her son’s uncertain future, should he marry Siena and was possibly obliged to renounce his title] and the Ton and several on’s and off’s in
their relationships, Anthony invited Siena to a Ball in the Ton [his noble
class], which would shock the guests, but in an attempt to make her
acceptable as a social equal to his noble citcles.
How that ended the reader may google or search-that’s not the issue
here.
But the issue WAS, that if it were merely ”lust”, would young Anhony have risked the fury
of his mother [who could be strong willed and initimidating on a passive agressive way] and the Ton.
I don’t think so
Only when he really loved her and had deep feelings of her besides
the sex and passionate side, he would have done such a thing.
And by the way:
Why can’t they go together?

Zoals mijn trouwe Lezers [Bridgerton Fans en anderen] weten, post ik
op gezette Tijden een en ander over The Life and Times van de succesvolle Bridgerton Netflix TV serie! [1]
En hoewel ik eigenlijk met een  ander thema bezig was, kon ik dit eenvoudig niet weerstaan!
ZOOOOO juicy……..
Het was simpelweg EEN FEEST om te kijken naar de Gepassioneerde Liefdes en Sex
scenes tussen Anthony Bridgerton, jong, mooi en Hoofd van de aristocratische Bridgerton Familie en zijn operazangeres Siena Rosso!

Het was een GENOT om te kijken naar de Youtube scenes uit Seizoen 1, vooral die waar ons Liefdeskoppel sex had onder een Platform tijdens een  Box wedstrijd! [4] [Weet niet of de volledige scene erop staat, anders zoek ik deze nog voor jullie op!]
En voor wie dat ”ordinair” vindt:
Bedenk, dat zij niet ”gewoon” samen konden zijn, omdat in de Regency Tijd een operazangeres beschouwd werd als een immorele vrouw en een
aristocraat haar alleen ”in de dark” kon bezoeken!
Lezers, kijk ook goed naar de andere gepassioneerde scenes, onderr

Nu moeten jullie weten, Lezers, dat ik altijd een zwak heb gehad voor verboden of onmogelijke Liefdes, zoals de Liefdesaffaire van Anthony
Bridgerton en Siena Rosso.
WAAROM ONMOGELIJK?
Zoals ik al schreef, betekende een eventueel huwelijk tussen
een aristocraat en een operazangeres de sociale dood voor de hele
Familie en dus Goodbye tegen de huwelijkskansen van de dochters, omdat
nogmaals, operazangeressen werden beschouwd als immorele vrouwen.
Je amuseren met een operazangeres was EEN ding.
Met haar trouwen wel iets heeel anders……..
En dit verklaart dan ook het felle verzet van Lady Violet, Anthony’s moeder, tegen zijn relatie met Siena Rosso.
Want hoewel ze een diepe liefde koesterde voor  haar zoon , al was de relatie
door omstandigheden erg gespannen [5A], ze had gezien de tijdsomstandigheden weinig andere keuzes dan zich hard opstellen en zijn
geluk ”op te offeren” om de Familie in stand te houden, vooral omdat
Anthony niet zomaar een zoon was, maar de oudste en dus hoofd van de Familie [na de plotselinge dood van zijn vader] [5]

LIEFDE, GEEN ”LUST”
Zoals ik al eerder schreef:
Ik wilde iets heel anders posten, maar voelde plotseling
de behoefte, het hierover te hebben.
REDEN:
Omdat ik in een aantal comments en posts van Fans en
anderende bewering las, dat de relatie tussen Anthony en Siena geen Liefde, maar Lust was.
EN DAT BESTE LEZERS, IS BESLIST NIET WAAR!
Hier was absoluut sprake van Liefde!
Ik ga dit niet in details uitdiepen, maar ik geef drie krachtige
argumenten voor mijn kijk op deze Relatie:
Natuurlijk was er  sprake van veel sex en gepassioneerde
scenes tussen hen en was dit een belangrijk bestanddeel van hun relatie.
Ze waren jong, mooi, gepassioneerd en konden bovendien niet ”gewoon” samen zijn, omdat het een
”love in the dark” was, zoals uitgelegd.
Maar het echte FUNDAMENT voor hun relatie lag dieper.
Veel dieper.
WAAROM LIEFDE
DE LANGDURIGHEID VAN HUN RELATIE
Gebaseerd op de serie [en ik praat hier over Seizoen 1, waarin hun
relatie zich afspeelde], was hun relatie er niet een van een of twee weken, maar al behoorlijk langdurig.
Het was een ”aan/uit” relatie, waarbij het er fel en heftig aan toe ging, Siena regelmatig Anthony wegjoeg en hij het ook een aantal keren uitmaakte [onder andere toen zijn moeder Violet hem op koude toon
confronteerde met zijn relatie eraan refererend, dat hij [in haar eigen woorden ”visits a certain soprano” en de vraag stelde, wat hij wilde zijn ”slechts een oudere broer” voor zijn familieleden, of het ”hoofd van de Familie”] [6A]
Maar iedere keer keerde Anthony weer naar Siena terug.
Dat gebeurt niet, als het alleen maar ‘lust” is
Trouwens, als het echt alleen maar lust is, dan weersta je niet jaar na jaar de felle tegenstand van je moeder [en reken maar dat een wilskrachtige vrouw als Lady Violet haar zoon niet met rust liet en bleef hameren op zijn
plichten en hoe ”roekeloos” hij was en meer van dat fraais] [6B]
En vlak ook de sociale afkeuring van de ”Ton” [Britse aristocratie in de Regency Era] [6] niet uit, de voornaamste reden, dat zijn moeder, die
sociale uitsluiting vreesde, zich zo fel verzette.
Als je dat er allemaal voor over hebt, speelt er veel meer dan lust en sex.
Want lust en sex kun je overal krijgen, zeker een jonge aristocraat in de Regency Tijd!
HET DUEL
Zonder in details te gaan [dat komt een andere keer wel] daagde Anthony zijn beste vriend Simon Basset, de 2e Hertog van Hastings uit voor een duel
Reden?
 De eer van Anthony’s zuster Daphne [7]
Aan de Vooravond van dat Duel [dat nooit zou plaatsvinden, maar dat
kon Anthony op dat moment niet weten] [8], liet hij zijn jongere broer Benedict [die hem zou opvolgen bij zijn eventuele dood] [9], zweren,
dat hij altijd voor Siena zou zorgen, mocht hij komen te overlijden [Een duel was toen een Kwestie van Leven en Dood]
EN DAT IS MIJN KRACHTIGSTE ARGUMENT!
Want als je denkt, dat je laatste Uur heeft geslagen, dan denk je aan
diegene, die je het dierbaarst is.
Hij dacht er niet aan, wat zijn dood zou betekenen voor zijn moeder [die trouwens van dat duel niet op de hoogte was]
Niet wat het zou betekenen voor zijn jongere broers en zusters.
Hij dacht aan Siena.
Dat zij goed verzorgd zou achterblijven.
Als het alleen maar lust was, zouden zijn laatste gedachten niet aan
haar gewijd geweest zijn……….
Ook speculeerde hij er tegenover Siena over [hij had haar voor het duel
nog gezien], wat er zou gebeuren, als hij zijn beste vriend zou hebben
doodgeschoten
Dan had hij het land moeten ontvluchten en hij speculeerde er tegenover
haar over, dat zij dan samen zouden kunnen zijn [in zijn eigen woorden]

Dus hier ook weer:
Hij dacht er niet aan, wat het voor zijn moeder zou betekenen, dat zij
haar zoon waarschijnlijk nooit meer zou zien.
Het immense verdriet en schuldgevoel dat hij zou hebben als
hij zijn beste vriend had doodgeschoten.
Hij dacht aan Siena en het samenzijn met haar.
Als het alleen ”lust” geweest was, zou hij het niet zo diep gevoeld hebben.
DE UITNODIGING VOOR HET SOCIETY BAL
Het DUEL argument was mijn sterkste argument.
Maar Face dit, Lezers:
Op een gegeven moment, ondanks de immense druk van zijn moeder [die niet alleen bezorgd was over de reputatie van de familie, maar zich ook echt bezorgd maakte over haar zoon’s onzekere toekomst, mocht hij toch trouwen met Siena en zijn titel moeten neerleggen en misschien naar
het buitenland zou moeten gaan] en de sociale druk van de Ton en de veled ons en offs in de relatie, ondanks dat alles nodigde Anthony
op een gegeven moment Siena uit voor een Society Bal in een poging, haar of hun relatie hoe dan ook geaccepteerd te krijgen [hij speculeerde er ook nog op, waarom dat niet zou kunnen: hij was een burggraaf [Viscount] en zijn zuster Daphne een Hertogin] [10]
Hoe dat afliep, moeten de lezers maar even googlen of kijken op
al die Fan pages, dat laat ik hier in het midden.
Maar Lezers, Face dit:
Als het alleen maar ging om ”lust” of ”sex” zou de jonge Anthony zich
dan de woede van zijn moeder [die hem misschien wel zou zijn aangevlogen!] en het risico op sociale uitsluiting van de Ton hebben getrotseerd, als het alleen maar ”lust” was geweest?
Ik denk het niet.
Dit gedrag [de uitnodiging voor het Bal, maar ook de zorg voor Siena aan de vooravond van het duel en de lange duur van de relatie] bewijst,
dat Anthony diepe gevoelens voor Siena had, anders had hij het niet gedaan.
Noch de harde verwijten van zijn moeder verdragen.
Dat doe je niet, als het je alleen om lust en sex gaat, die hij
ook elders had kunnen krijgen.
Maar bovendien
Hun relatie WAS gepassioneerd en doorspekt met sex en lust, klopt.
Maar waarom kunnen ze niet samengaan?
Liefde, Passie en Sex
Dat was hier het geval.
Maar het WAS een diepe, liefdevolle en gepassioneerde relatie.

Als Hoofd van de Familie was Anthony juridisch verantwoordelijk voor zijn jongere broers en zusters/Hij nam de beslissingen over hun eventueel huwelijk, keerde toelages aan hen uit, beheerde al hun landgoederen en bezit en had ook alles geerfd van hun vader.

Point is, that Anthony was so young then….
She also lashes out harshly to him for having an affair with opera singer
Siena Rosso, forcing him to break the relationship.
From her point of view understandable, since  opera-singers were considered as ”immoral women” and a marriage between an aristocrat and an opera singer  was considered as a no go area in Regency Era, leading to the social death of the whole Family [and Farewell to the marriage chances of Violet’s daughters] but for Anthony it was a severe blow, since he really loved Siena.
So the relationship between mother and son was very strained and even hostile, despite Violet’s deep love for her son.
This lasted until finally Violet realized her harsh stand against her son and the
heavy burden he had to carry, being Head of the Family at young age [18 years old]
