Laat de dorststakers niet sterven!
Sinds zondag is bekend dat vluchtelingen opgesloten in de grensgevangenissen van Schiphol en Rotterdam in actie zijn gekomen en hun vrijheid eisen. Zij doen dat door in honger- en zelfs dorststaking te gaan. De actie van de vluchtelingen zou nooit naar buiten zijn gekomen als niet juist enkele dagen na aanvang van deze actie een demonstratie van No Border Activisten was langsgekomen en wel op bevrijdingsdag: 5 mei.

De rechten van mensen zonder verblijfsvergunning staan op verschillende punten volop in de belangstelling. Er is de hongerstaking van mensen die asiel hebben aangevraagd, opgesloten zitten in detentiecentra in Schiphol en Rotterdam. Ze hebben een doodsimpele eis: “vrijheid”. Daarnaast es er de druk binnen de PvdA om ‘illegaliteit’- -puur het verblijf in Nederland zonder de van staatswege geëiste papieren – strafbaar te stellen. Op beide fronten is, naast veel afschuwelijks, toch ook positief nieuws. Het belangrijkste pluspunt: de indrukwekkende weerbaarheid van de hongerstakers, en de solidariteit die dat oproept.

LIBYA: REJECT ”POLITICAL ISOLATION LAW”

(Beirut) – Libya’s General National Congress (GNC) should vote down the latest draft of a new law to bar Gaddafi-era officials from holding public office. The proposed law’s provisions and procedures for exclusion are too sweeping and vague, Human Rights Watch said. Further, a recent amendment to the provisional constitution would prohibit judicial review of the law. A vote is expected in congress on May 5, 2013.

INTRODUCTION:
After 42 years the dictatorship of Gaddafi has come to an end
However, the new rulers don’t deserve any benefit of the doubt
They didn’t trust on the strength of the Libyan people and made alliance with the NATO
which only serve Western interests
With a pro Western regime, the Libyan people can forget any real independence and
social advancement
Regarding human rights they made a bloody beginning with the apparent extrajudicial
execution of Gaddafi and his son Mutassim
Prisoners have been tortured and humiliated
There are vehement racist attacks on African migrant workers and black Libyans
When the situation stays this and those responsible for torture and violence
don’t face prosecution, the former Gaddafi dictatorship will be followed by a next one

Persbericht No Border Netwerk en de werkgroep Deportatieverzet

Tijdens de eerste stop van de solidariteitstour die vanuit het No Border Netwerk werd gehouden op 5 mei, bevrijdingsdag, is er telefonisch contact geweest met de opgesloten migranten in de nieuwe grensgevangenis op Schiphol-West. Van verschillende gevangenen vernamen we dat 20 tot 26 mensen in hongerstaking zijn. Hun eis is eenvoudig maar voor de Nederlandse autoriteiten niet zo vanzelfsprekend als het zou behoren te zijn: vrijheid. Onder de gevangenen die we achter de ramen zagen, waren veel vrouwen met kinderen.
